Letter Moth

How to Install the Letter Moth Chrome Extension (Step by Step)

To install Letter Moth, open its page on the Chrome Web Store, click Add to Chrome, confirm Add extension, pin it from the puzzle-piece menu, then click the moth and sign in with Google. After a one-time short profile, you can draft from LinkedIn, Gmail and job application pages.

The whole setup usually takes a few minutes. This guide walks through each step, covers browsers other than Chrome, explains why the extension does not work on some pages, and shows how to generate your first draft.

Letter Moth drafts text only. It never sends a message, never clicks for you, and does nothing until you click the toolbar button or use the right-click menu.

How do I install Letter Moth from the Chrome Web Store?

Open the Letter Moth page on the Chrome Web Store: https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/letter-moth/bpihjbnppccbahdgomakfbmmfpkdhomg. The site's install page has a button that takes you there.

Then click Add to Chrome and confirm Add extension in the popup. Chrome downloads it in a few seconds and shows a short confirmation.

How do I pin the extension to my toolbar?

Click the puzzle-piece Extensions icon in the toolbar, find Letter Moth in the list, and click the pin icon next to it. The moth then stays visible in the toolbar so you can click it on any page.

If you do not see it, check the Extensions menu: new extensions are often hidden there until pinned.

How do I sign in and set up my profile?

Before you click, know what to expect: Letter Moth asks you to sign in so that your profile and daily draft count are tied to your account. There is no card step on the Free plan.

Click the moth and choose Continue with Google. It is one button for both sign-in and sign-up, and no card is needed.

Then write your short profile once: your name, your role, and what you do. This goes into every draft so messages sound like they come from you rather than from a template. You can edit it later, and it is worth spending a minute to make it accurate. A good profile is two or three plain lines, such as "I am a data analyst at a logistics company, focused on delivery forecasting. I am exploring product analytics roles." Avoid long biographies, since a short, clear profile produces cleaner drafts.

How do I draft my first message?

Use this routine on LinkedIn, Gmail or a job application page.

  • Open a LinkedIn profile, a Gmail compose window or a job application.
  • Click the moth, or right-click inside the text box and use the Letter Moth menu.
  • Pick the message type (connection note, cold email, referral request, follow-up, reply or application answer) and a tone: natural, professional, casual, warm or concise.
  • Review the page context the extension shows you. You can untick parts you do not want used.
  • Generate the draft, read it, and edit anything that does not sound like you.
  • Insert it into the box, then send it yourself. Letter Moth never sends anything.

Does it work in Edge, Brave, Opera or Firefox?

Letter Moth works in Chromium-based browsers that can install from the Chrome Web Store, including Edge, Brave and Opera. Use the same Web Store link and the browser's own add-extension prompt.

It does not work in Firefox or Safari.

Why is the extension not working on some pages?

Chrome blocks extensions on its own internal pages (such as chrome:// pages) and on the Chrome Web Store itself, so the moth will not work there. Open a normal website like LinkedIn or Gmail instead.

The same applies to some embedded or restricted pages, where the browser limits what any extension can read. In those cases, copy the key details you need into a normal text box on a regular site, or write that message by hand.

Quick checks if nothing happens:

  • Make sure the extension is enabled in the Extensions menu.
  • Refresh the page after installing, since pages that were already open may need a reload.
  • Check that you are signed in by clicking the moth.
  • Confirm you clicked the toolbar button or used the right-click menu, since it only reads the page when you do.

What do I get on the Free plan, and what happens next?

The Free plan includes 10 drafts a day and 3 saved prompts, with no card. Pro gives unlimited drafts and saved prompts, prepaid for INR 299 for 30 days or INR 2,499 for a year by UPI, card or net banking. It never auto-renews, and the first Pro purchase has a 7-day refund. Details are on the pricing section.

Letter Moth is early and focused, so it does not do bulk sending, email finding, CRM or sequences. It helps you draft one message at a time faster, and you stay in control of sending.

If you are ready, the quickest route through these steps is the install page, which links straight to the Web Store listing.
