Letter Moth

How to install Letter Moth

Letter Moth is a free Chrome extension that drafts LinkedIn notes, cold emails and job-application answers from the page you are on. Installing takes under a minute.

Add to Chrome, it's freeOpens the Chrome Web Store listing.

  1. Open the Chrome Web Store page

Use the button on this page. It opens the Letter Moth listing on the Chrome Web Store. Use Google Chrome, or Edge, Brave or Opera (they can install from the Chrome Web Store too).

  2. Click Add to Chrome

Press Add to Chrome, then confirm Add extension in the pop-up. It installs in a few seconds and needs no restart.

  3. Pin Letter Moth to your toolbar

Click the puzzle-piece Extensions icon at the top right of the browser and pin the moth, so it is one click away on any page.

  4. Sign in with Google

Click the moth and choose Continue with Google. The same button signs you in or creates your account. No card needed, and 10 drafts a day are free.

  5. Tell it about you, once

Add your name, role and a line about what you do. It goes into every draft, on every site, so messages sound like you.

  6. Write your first message

Open a LinkedIn profile, a Gmail compose window or a job application. Click the moth, or right-click inside the text box. Pick the message type and tone, check the page context, and generate. Edit the draft, insert it, and press send yourself.

Troubleshooting

The button says the extension isn't available. Open the link in Chrome, Edge, Brave or Opera. Firefox and Safari are not supported yet.

It doesn't appear on a page. Chrome blocks all extensions on its own pages (chrome://) and on the Chrome Web Store. Try a normal website such as LinkedIn or Gmail, and reload the tab after installing.

I can't see the moth in the toolbar. Click the puzzle-piece icon and pin Letter Moth. You can also right-click inside any text box to use it from the menu.

Sign-in didn't finish. Allow the Google pop-up window, then click the moth and try Continue with Google again. Still stuck? See Contact.
